When it comes time for you to pick your wedding DJ there are a few things that are going to be important to you. You want to make sure that they have a few things. Of course professional equipment is a must. Back up equipment is a good idea. You want to make sure they have the proper lighting for your event if you are wanting that sort of thing. They got to have the proper music. A good microphone presence for MCing. All these things are very important, but what is the most important thing your DJ should have? Experience.

That is why I attached this picture. Look at that fresh faced boy in the middle. I think I was 19 when me and my friends decided to start a DJ business. Looking back honestly I can say, we probably did not do a lot of weddings as good as we could have. Even looking at this picture I can tell you. That is way too many lights, and look at those cords hanging everywhere. Don’t even get me started on the music note ties. The thing is, we were learning. It is now 20 years since this photo was taken, the amount of things I have learned have been priceless. Learning music flow, learning to read a wedding crowd, learning a better presentation, better MC skills. The list goes on and on. I would probably cringe if I went back and watched me DJ a wedding 20 years ago. The weird paradox of this situation is that DJs have to learn somehow, and the only way to learn is by doing wedding after wedding. So if you are looking to save a little money on your wedding day, then maybe a DJ with less experience is one way to do it. Just make sure to ALWAYS ask how long your DJ has been doing it. If they have a premium price, but have been doing it for 1 – 2 years. Maybe keep looking.

Thank you so much for checking out the blog. Take a look around at some of the past things I have written about. Also your Free Friday Mixes. Also, we are now booking weddings and events in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
